# RemoteCommander — Terms of Use

## 1. What RemoteCommander is

RemoteCommander is software that runs on your own computer and lets an AI
client you choose (for example ChatGPT or Claude) work with files, run
commands and manage processes on that computer through the Model Context
Protocol (MCP). It exposes three tools — `fs`, `exec` and `process` — limited
by the workspace roots, command policy and approval settings you configure.

## 2. Your machine, your decisions

- You install and run RemoteCommander yourself and decide which folders,
  programs and approval modes it allows.
- Actions requested by an AI client are carried out on your computer with
  your operating-system account's permissions. You are responsible for the
  actions you allow, including anything you approve on an approval card,
  enable through "Always allow" or turbo mode, or put on the allow list.
- AI models can make mistakes and can be manipulated by content they read
  (prompt injection). Review approval requests before accepting them and keep
  backups of anything important.
- Use RemoteCommander only on computers you own or are authorized to control.

## 3. Connecting clients

- A client connects only after you enter the pairing code shown in your
  RemoteCommander console. Do not share pairing codes or access tokens.
- If you expose RemoteCommander to the internet (for example through a tunnel),
  keep OAuth or a bearer token enabled. An unauthenticated public endpoint
  lets anyone who learns its address use it.
- You can end a connection at any time by stopping RemoteCommander or deleting
  its authorization state file (`oauth.json` in the state directory).

## 4. Third-party services

AI clients, tunnels and any other services you connect are provided by their
own operators under their own terms. What those services do with data they
receive from RemoteCommander is governed by their terms and privacy policies,
not these.

## 5. No warranty

RemoteCommander is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, express or
implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, or that it
is free of defects. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under law
that cannot be limited by agreement.

## 6. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any
loss or damage arising from the use of RemoteCommander, including lost or
changed data, damage to systems, or actions taken by AI clients you connected
or approved.

## 7. Changes

These terms may be updated. The effective date above changes with each
revision; continuing to use RemoteCommander after a change means you accept
the updated terms.
